Clan, bloodline, in essence they are one in the same. Just inconsiquential semantics.

Reason why I suggested an addition to rule 3 was to stray away from what media, and other authors have published (Ann Rice comes to mind). You do have a good point about blood being everything to folklore based vampires. Also the fact that to keep bloodlines/clans pure by shareing their blood to refuel the next of kin.

However, I suggest a different approach to look at vampires. Yes, it would be sufficient to keep one or two of the different clans as blood liniage. Yet we have the power to create a new way to view how vampires feed themselves and procreate. Best example I could give would be the Vixin. A form of female vampire that its main qualities include seduction and charming. How they could get their sustinance could be from a form of energy drain. Whenever they kiss, touch or conduct acts of sensual desire they could be draining an individual of their life spark. They do not nescisarily have to convert this life force into a form of youth enhancment. Rather they use it as food as a classic vampire needs blood to hold their strength. As for procreation, the Vixin could just as easily (since they could be all about life energy), simply share a piece of their immortal soul/energy with their target to create another of their kind. So think of it this way, the Vixin for centuries have been shareing the same essence of their founder. This could create a deep seeted dark religion about their kind, which in turn leads towards a whole new addition to the Vixin portion of the vampire section.

More examples to come...

Before we step any further into the subject of the manual I should clarify what I had originaly planned for it.
The Faith Hills History Manual (This name will most likely change in the future to reflect the true meaning of the manual), is meant to be a gathering of details about the past and present of this huge story. To be more exact, details meaning:

-Special Land formations
ex: Tower of light. why it was built. Who built it. Special functions. A few details about who occupied and perhaps even details of a few rooms within.

-Gods
ex: Gods name. Where it resides. Symbols of the god. Common worshipers of the god. What is the gods function in the world. The gods part in past events. The gods part in current events.

-Races
For each section of the races, you will have the main header of the race: ex: Vampires, a description of vampires in general will follow suit. Afterwards, the vampire section will be split up into the catagories of different types of vampires. Ex: Vixin, Bloodleaf etc... Under the new headers, it will go into more intemate detail about them. Such as, Description of this certain type of race, things that make it unique to the others. Residential behavior (Do all stay in one place, if so where? Or are they nomadic? Or are they split up yet stay in a single place etc...). The Subraces behavioral patterns, Ex: Vixins sedduce victems and they become their slaves. Races cultural interests. Status heiarchy in culture if any at all. Forms of religion. Military, if they have then a little description of how it works. The status of magic in their society, is it a big influence, small influence, no influence. Diplomatic stance towards the other races. And last but not least, the subraces part in history. And their part in the present.

-Locations
ex: Faith Hills (before it was destroyed). A graphic image of the city/town/village couldn't hurt. Different cultures that reside. Perhaps go into a little detail about their commerce. Population total (which can be split into a number of different graphs and charts showing different things like race, gender etc...). Ruling council. Law enforcment. Crime. Guilds. Heh heh heh. Maybe even throw in a few ads to make the overall experience more nifty.

-Famous Events/Heroes/Relics
This section could give descriptions of heroes of the past or present. Famous events like wars of the past. Maybe even write a little bit of what we all have done too.

-Timeline
Create a timeline bar and place famous events etc on it so everything can be set straight if needed.

-Bonuses
The whole reason why this section exists is because of what you had suggested Jake. Here is what I had thought of for this section. Everyone, or maybe even a select few will RP a seperate story that recollects about, lets say, How Faith Hills was built, how it became the capital city of the Land of Faith etc... And when the story is complete, edit everything together so that the outcome appears much like a journal, or a bards tale book. So this bonus is pretty much a book within a book giving the manual an even better feel to it. This can be done many times to explore and expand the main history.

I know making somthing this huge is ALOT of work. But the end result will leave all of us satisfied with what it can do. Although I know that a small portion of fun writing here has been creating new things about the world, I personaly feel that enough is enough of simply pulling things out of my butt. I felt that the things mentioned above need to be more structured. Although events of the past that will be printed in the manual are set in stone, future additions are not. If a race changes its diplomatic stance with another, then at the end of that saga, the manual will be updated. New land formations, end of saga update. New race, end of saga update. You get the drift. I hope that with the completion, or near completion of the manual, it will add to the story rather than hinder it. It should make things more sophisticated in a way that the things characters mention, or places they visit, can go into further detail then a simple improvision. ALSO, help new additions to our RP team get familiar with the land and its people. Im not too sure if it will place any restrictions on the characters they can make (I was gunna say restriction on making a new race, but just remember what I said above, end of saga update). But we can add another section to the above of somthing like New Player Help etc...

Even though I have mentioned a mouthfull of sensory input, it does not mean just jump right in and tackle everything at once. Jake, you actualy have the right idea in that creating a basic outline of the race and then building upon it. And to make things go along faster, I suggest that we both tackle the same thing at the same time. Such as my debate above about the vampires. Once we have the entire section of the vampire race and its subraces complete, then we can move onto the other areas (Might I suggest we stick to completing races first?). (I dun know why, but this section I have gone over a dozen times, and no matter how many times I rephrase it or edit words, it always seems to come out a tad condescending. So please excuse me if it comes off like that to yourself.)

As for the compilation of what has been written thus far, tomorrow (rather this evening), I will create a webpage with everything on it so it will be more easily found and read. It may not be a message board, but it is the next best thing.

Which brings me to the next thing that needs to be mention. I would also like to suggest a better place to hold the conversation for the manual. Somehow it seems that the discussion for it can become quite extensive and requires a bit of room. For the time being our OOC thread, and email will have to do. However, if anyone comes across a hosting site with 10+ MB of space + CGI support, or a hosting site that includes a message board in it, then please share the link. I have a message board script on my computer which can be used if a hosting site with CGI support is found. A real pity that my hypermart account was erased because it could have held the boards.

With that all said and done, I will be back with a few more examples to expand upon the vampire subraces. Also, Jake, if ye have a form of instant messenger that would also help this project come along alot faster. My profile has all of my contacts, although I spend a majority of my time on MSN since I am hiding from other people on ICQ and AIM.

I have yahoo messager. wookiemartin@yahoo.com

But that is only ofr chat and messages. my email is still only daveicer@hotmail.com.

I see you feel very strongly about this. And I know that it is old hat. But which ever way to plan to do this. it must involve the drinking of the vampires blood. their who being is surrounded by that fact and meaning.

So maybe we can have a kind of ritual could be used in the case of some vampire blood lines. but should involve blood letting during it. The Vixin blood line uses lustful disillusion to it's full. Like you I like this race. It stands out. Please meail me for futher discussion.

But I would like to point out that althouh you may want to use a ritual for some of the blood lines. I stress highly that rest mainly the older blood lines be in the traditional way. it makes more sence.

did you get me last email with Ordo Malace back ground detailing some of the vampire war during it's end?

Just wanted to let everyone know that I've put up the original Thieves Den Pub threads on my page. I was intending to get them all up, but it turns out my html uploading doesn't much like the way I have my pages set up, so I gotta go through some of the pages individually. I've put the threads up as I have them saved. Many of them are missing pics for icons, but that's not what's important.

I don't think it'll be much longer until I get the rest up and running.

I like the ideas you guys are comming up with for the Vampires and the History of our world. Its definatly interesting stuff, and I think I would have to agree with Jake in that Vampires should have something to do with the blood letting. Draining energy and souls is a cool idea, but it fits other mythilogical creatures other than vampires. There's definatly a lot of room to expand and create on a topic like this.

[ * * * * * EDIT * * * * *

I've been able to get the Faith Hills threats up as well as the Trepidation ones. It might be a little while before I can get the rest.

Got the mail and will read it over soon after this post.

I suppose I will have to concede on the subject of alterior methods for vampire procreation. Though that doesn't stop from how the blood letting commences. *Pulls out anti-media brainwashing kit and gives out a maniacle laugh*

However, before I go deeply into anything I will read your mail to get a better picture.

I figured you'd want in on the plan eh,

And once we meet up with you and fill you in on what's happening, we can meet up with Irish.
That still work for you Irish? Let me know,

I just wanted to let everyone know that Somber has been having some computer troubles and hasn't been able to get here. I'm not sure exactly how long she'll be out, but hopefully not too long. It looks like I'll be the middle man idea, if anyone want to tell her anything I can get her the message.

Shadow I was trying to get through to vaalic about this idea but I think he has not got my email as of yet. So I have taken a chance and done it any way. i can change if no one wants it this way. but I thinking that since it probably is not the right time for Shadow and Vaalic to meet up as of yet and because it is still early in the saga. How would you Shadow Rune like to face off with the might Jake Miller for some interesting one of one that ends with no real winner and the building destroyed anyway. I just thought it would be good since Jake and Shadow have never really fought one and other before. What do ya say shadow, ya up for it? Can you handle the little elvish man by your self?? Mohuha ha ha ha ha ha!

No seriously do you want to have a fight with our characters for a short couple of posts while the others do their rescue thing and the dragons have their fight. Could be fun....

Hey Jake, sorry I thought I replied to that email. Guess not eh. Yeah, I thought the idea was good. Emailed Shadow about it too to see what he thought. I thought it'd be interesting.

ShadowRune vs. Jake Miller...

Ends with a standoff and one destroyed building.

We can chat over email about how to work the fight. I just posted leading up to it. I hope the timing for it all is correct. In the post I am assuming that before the two roof guards came down, that they had signaled for the alarm to be sounded.

I also hope that the final line in your post was meant for myself and not just some other soldier who heared the alarm and came to check things out.

Hey,

Somber, I'll send the file, but I've got a little sketch to go with it. It won't be able to sent together, but I'll send it on Sunday. I'm still good to meet. There's a few things I wanted to run by you.

Good to see you back around :)

I've sent a couple emails to Irish. Just hope he's still at that addy. Everyone gets busy this time of year. It might be best to give him a little time, see if he can get around. If not I'm sure we can improvise. Find a way to meet later, though it wouldn't be for some time after the attack.

Hope to see you around Irish,

Good fight Jake. I think we did rather well for improvising it all. In the future after Shadow kills Vaalic for good... Heh heh heh... it shall be down to you and I again. And this time Shadow will make sure you dun go Super Saiyajin on my butt!

Ahhh. Obviously you don't get Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, and Dragon Ball GT where ye live. Either that or you dun have any interest in watching this long running, translated japanese anime show.

Quick explaination of what Super Saiyajin is:
The main characters of the show are a race from another planet, their race is the Saiyajins. These are very powerful warriors who after each fight gain new found strength, almost doubleing their original power. Anyways, they have this one special talent where they transform into funkier looking version of themselves. Not only that, but doing this transformation increases their power tenfold each level of Super Saiyajin they go.

You might see the connection here to your character. Therefor my reasons for sayin, "Goin' Super Saiyajin on my butt."

*shakes head*
Poor Graffy. Such a young man, almost like Vaalic except less traveled.
:/
Now I gotta think up what happens next on their adventures. Should be interesting none the less.

Light flicks on as you what in the hell Shadow was on about. Like Somber it is called saiyan. My little brother colloects it on dvd. Yeah it used to be on in the morning here (australia) I never really followed it. It is called Dragon ball Z here.

I rather more classic anime. eg. Akira, blood: the last vampire, Eva G, Hellsing, Berserk, Ninja scroll and GunDam wing. and so on and so on.

I base a lot of my art work on anime styles. To tell you the truth I first become influenced to make Dark One/Seth/Jake's powers more like that seen in an anime called Angle Cop, an older anime. I see their mores as teleconnectic (spelling?) As for the transformations or chnages that happen I borrowed that from an idea to do with FF7 final bosses since they keep changing and comming back stronger. I'll have to do another run down for every one in detail as I have done for you Shadow in sorts in my last email.

I believe that it is a translation of the pronounciation of the Japanese word. Saiyajin, Saiyan, as you say, whatever. I personaly only watched a couple episodes with a friend who is realy nuts about it. So I went to a site on the net and that is how they spelled it.

I could agree with yourself Jake on the subject of classical anime shows/movies. My favorite above all being Ninja Scrolls and Slayers.

Telekinetic be the word ye lookin for. ;)

Hey guys,

I liked the battle between Shadow and Jake. Looking forward to seeing you guys go at it again.

I don't think Irish is going to be around, at least not for right now. I posted so we can move on with the plan. We could always figure out another way for us to meet if you come back Irish.

Hello, my name is Shifter, or is it?

I would like to draw your attention to a little idea that is been presented in the form of a OCC on the writters corner forum. It is posted by me and hope to make something of it. So if you are stuck waiting for a reply or have no RPing to do in Faith Hill and looking for something to aid in your need to write. Then perhaps taking part in my little story (could be a long story who knows?) to give you al somethign to do if having nothing else better to do. (who knows, you could get addicted to this little idea.)

So please check out this little OCC tread for a look see and dont be turned off by the title. It may be more then meets the eye in the end. Shifter turns, twists and changes revaeling none other then your friendly (grumpy) mate Jake.
