Unlocked notebook

Postby Ostro » Sat Jun 21, 2003 7:01 pm

While I was talking to Caile the other day I was reminded of all-subject spiral notebook I used when I was a senior in High School. I wrote a lot of poems and jotted down a lot of story ideas, and multiple things going on in my head at the time. After reading over a few of them, I decided I should post as many decent ones as I can. Hopefully then, will I be able to find my elusive creativity, and maybe get rid of a LOT of pent up emotion. A lot can happen in one year.

"Dedication to Eltharion"

I wish for you the best of things,
I'd lay myself on the line,
You deserve all the our friendship brings,
And more...

”Untitled”

Sitting in my English class, I try to picture you sitting in the vacant desk in front of me.
I watch you write your notes and participate in class.
I just want to reach out in front of me and touch your shoulder.
You turn around and smile, and I smile back.

(This one is weird, because I wrote it about a year ago, but sounds so VERY similar to what Caile was just showing me the other day.)

”Untitled”

Thinking of you smiling,
To smile back at your face.

Expressing my thoughts,
The best I know how,
To write it all down,
What I’m thinking right now.

To express my love,
With my … word…

(This one is a semi-continuation of the above. It’s about the same certain someone.)

”Untitled”

Expressing my thoughts
By writing things down
Can’t show you what
I feel when I frown

It’s hard for me to say
How much love I feel
I wish there was a way
To know if it was real…

(A different version of the previous poem. I was torn over what I felt might have been one-sided love, and to this day I don’t know for sure…)

”To fly”

To spread feathered wings
Take in the sun’s warmth in flight
Soar above peaceful forest
Share the love of life…

When the night comes
Conceal your weary wings
Rest for tomorrow
For another day does follow
Another day for flight.

”Optimism”

Night stops us all
The darkness consumes all light
But for those with imagination
The night had never arrived
The day is endless.

”The Tiger that Cries”

Hiding, he is not there
The tiger that cries
Avoidant until his death
Never known except by
The bird in flight above him.

”Depression and Suicide”

See now
What I’ve become.
Know now
What I have done

Listen to me
Hear my outcry
This is the time,
My time.

Se me now
My story it written to view
Know me now
Understand what I’ve been through

Learn of me
Heed my advice
This was my time,
Now Yours.

”Untitled”

Take it slowly, and from a distance
We’ve gone our separate paths
I doubt we’ll be the same since…
The Break Up.

”You’re gone.”

Unexpectedly, my emotions
Cease to change despite
The heavy and changing shadows
That come from your light.

”Sloth”

Attach to a branch of a tree
Oblivious to the irony of the situation
Receiving no hint of recognition
Of individuality

A being not of audacity
Without the knowledge of another life for comparison
Knowing only that of the tree and the sun
Not one desire to be free

”Tropical Depression”

Drenched in misery
A storm of sadness and tears
Weep, now, in silence.

”War of Worlds”

A war of two worlds
No fighting but that of words
No one need use swords.

”A gem”

An emerald uncertainty
Crystaline in shape
Green in hue
And abstract in thought.

”Untitled”

I like to think I’m good,
I try too hard, I guess,
I practice ||| and ||||||| I could,
||||| I can’t, though. It’s |||| a mess!
My |||||||| poetry ||||| ||||||||||| ||||||||||
||||||||||||||||||||| It’s ||||||||||||||||| just…
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Well ||||||||||||||| This I will confess,
These ||||||| cross-outs are a must.

(The above was written in COMPLETE frustration with myself. I had people telling me I was a jackass for being so naïve and always acting so innocent… when I don’t know how else I’m supposed to act. I guess history repeats itself...)

”Peers”

A cure, all around me,
But hard for me to reach,
My lonliness ails me.
