[ooc:] As it is, this rp is semi-open. I welcome anybody who wishes to join and help further the plots, help create sub plots, or even wishes further to develop their own character. However, I ask that anybody who joins please keep to the feel of the rp, and if you have any questions feel free to pm me or contact me via any messenger I have listed.

Oh, and despite the characters I will prolly use have tie-in personas in maxim, this rp will have very little relavance to any rp or events found there.[/ooc]

Life had become slow and tedious, and thoughts of one's own demise had become strong. Destruction in honor, glory in it's finest, martrydom at best.

Ahh... but that was before all this, before I face what I must today. At first nothing was wrong; at first I could never even conjure up an idea for things to become as they have. Alas, I was wrong.

But, I'm gettin ahead of myself as I write this, possibly the last thoughts I shall ever put to parchment.

It all started at a gala of a friend of mine; a local lord in his own right. I had attended only at his beseechment, as I often found said events rather droll.

Twas there that I met the fire haired goddess that was to be both the ruin and savior of my existence. She was dressed in simple clothes, but that was to downplay the light that radiated from her.

Her skin simply glew in the candlelight, her hair pulled back in trusses accentuated her movements beautifully. Twas a woman whom you could buy a dress in the finest silks of the land and it would still fail to add to her radiance.

I

Sir?
Yes?
You have a visitor sir.
Tell them I shall be with them shortly.
Yes Sir.

approached her and asked for the next dance. She smiled and obliged my request.

The next number was a quick waltz, and my how lithe this creature was. The most agile of birds would do her no justice in their movements. We danced several more numbers, then retired to the end of the hall and chatted a time.

A knock at the door, then another more urgently
Yes?
He sighed inaudibly as the door opened, revealing the man who had intruded on him earlier.
Sorry sir, but she says she shall not wait.
She?
He cocked his head to the side, putting verbal emphasis on the word.
Yes sir, a cloaked woman insistent on seeing you. Said you shall not keep her waiting a moment longer.
He nodded and sighed audibly.
So she tracked me down to this decrepid inn... I wonder what it is that she wants.
Very well. Be a kind lad and show her up will you? I have slight... preparations... to make.
Yes sir.

Laus smiled and tipped the man with the coin of the realm, then rolled up the scroll he was writing in and hid it among his belongings. He placed a couple of his daggers in their sheaths in their hiding spots on his body should she come accompanied, then sat upon the edge of the bed and await her arrival.
It is not ours to question why, it is but ours to do and die
Hail Ceasar, we who are bout to die salute you!
Errrmmm.... Something or another, anyways?

He held his breath and dug his fingers into the bedding materials as the footsteps grew closer, the tension growing as the door slowly opened.

He released both as the woman entered the room and removed the cloak.

What is the meaning of your seeking me out in this decrepid inn?
Your son, the same as the last time.
You mean you come to ask me for more money to support yourself... but alas, how is poor John?

He sighed as the woman's deep brown eyes glared into his very soul. This wasn't the woman he had expected to arrive, though at times he wondered if she wasn't worse.

He is well. Under the tutelage of the local scholars now. He's an apt pupil. He hasn't seen you since he was 6 winters old, he's 12 now.... He misses you. You should come visit us... him...

He walked over to his belongings and pulled a large sack of coinage from his belongings, then walked towards her and put the sack in her hand.

I'm.... not proud of the man I've become. I'm not who I was once, nor could I ever be that man again. I shall make an attempt to visit, Adara, but shall promise you nothing. Now, take the money and treat yourselves well, but please, begone...

He noted the tears forming in the corner of her eyes as she replaced her cloak and turned to leave. He closed the door behind her, then returned to sitting on the end of bed, focusing his gaze upon the sword given him by his son all those years ago.

What does she really seek me out every winter for. I'm not the man she loved anymore. I'm not even the father John could ever want or need. So why do they continue...
It is not ours to question why, it is but ours to do and die
