A REAL (semi-historically accurate) Medieval RP ooc/signup

Postby DemonArchangel » Thu Dec 26, 2002 12:37 pm

That's right kiddies a real medieval RP!! I realized that one day that Canon and many other popular games and RPG's are based on or have medieval themes in them. Well of course, there were no such things as Hobbits or such things as the world of Morrowind in REAL medieval times now, where there? Of course your standard magi and witches were usually nabbed by inquistioners and then burned at the stake as heretics. Well enough of my prattling, here's the (somewhat historically accurate) storyline....

The Battle of Bagdhad- 1225 A.D

After the 4th Crusade, the "Latin" soldiers seized Constantinople from the Byzantines, but they didn't keep it for long. 20 years later, the Byzantines rallied their forces and crushed the Crusaders holding Constantinople, blinding, torturing, castrating and (for the lucky ones) killing them outright. The Venetian merchants, infuriated at the loss of Constantinople launch an attack on Byzantine territory, riding at the head of these avarice driven zealots is the Venetian Doge himself, Giovanni III, an aging world-weary ruler.

The Byzantine Emperor, Constantine IX is currently in London attempting to arrange a marriage between his eldest daughter and the English crown prince and will not be returning home for quite a while, leaving rule of the empire to his 2 sons Crown Prince Alexius III (age 18) and Nicephorus Comenus VII (Age: 16). At age 18, Alexius is already a war hero, having crushed the Seljuk Turks and pushing the Empire's borders as far west as Persia and as far north as the Volga River in Russia.

After hearing of an Arab rebellion in Bagdhad, Alexius quickly rides out at the head of 50,000 troops to crush the rebellion, only to find out that the Mongols had invaded Baghdad and the supposed rebels were only trying to put up a resistance to the onslaught of the Golden Horde. And Alexius' tomboy half-sister Alexia is tagging along, disguised as the leader of a band of Varangian (Viking) guardsmen.

The Golden Horde is led by Genghis Khan, who is aging but still a capable tactician and his teenage grandson Ogdai. The horde has been experiencing morale problems with its men, who have been fighting for the better part of ten years and wish to settle down. (Same problem with Alexander the Great's soldiers, who refused to go beyond the Indus River). The only thing in Genghis's heart though is conquest, and ignores the protests of his men, despite Ogdai's complaints that the soldiers of the Golden Horde are becoming unruly.

Back home, Nicephorus was left in charge, but little Nicky has problem with his brother being Crown Prince and will do anything to get at the throne including making a pact with the advancing Venetians to finish off Alexius when he gets home.....

I will be playing the following characters:

Crown Prince Alexius III:

Age: 18
Occupation: Crown Prince, General, Kataphraktoi heavy cavalryman.
Appearance: Tall (about 6'5) with black hair/eyes and olive skin. Has a regal bearing and never slouches, very physically active and very strong.

Some notes: Groomed for warfare from his youth, Alexius has known nothing but violence, subjugation and conquest. He finds it hard to be merciful and compassionate though his future role as emperor will have to demand at least some of that. Has a little problem with being nice to prisoners as well (i.e: poking the eyes out of children with sharp pins is him on a nice day) though he's not a bad person at heart though.

Princess Alexia:
Age: 15
Occupation: Princess/Secretly dresses up as a guy to tag along with Alexius.
Appearance: Blond, almost white hair, blue eyes, pasty white skin. Well muscled and strong. About 5'5 inches tall.
Some notes: Is actually an illegitimate child. The emperor stopped by a whorehouse somewhere up north in Denmark one day, and the angry whore came down to Constantinople and threatened to reveal the Emperor's little affair unless he kept the child. Of course, nobody ever knew what really happened but there are rumors that go around from time to time. Alexia hated being a princess when she was young and played with the boys a lot, kinda explaining why she's dressed up as one tagging along with her brother.
Welcome to my parlor said the spider to the fly.
Winner of the "Make Vilena Cringe" title.

Sounds really good, but I don't think I have the time or would give enough effort towards the story....I will give it some thought and will get back to you. Maybe with the position of Ogdai Khan or a general....
Praise be that death comes at the end of life and not at the begining

I will play the part of Genghis Khan. Should i post a character sheet on what he looks like and the likes? Kinda like what you did for your two characters? I will look him up and get more information on him so i can play him better.
