Charter

They had come from a great distance, weary and tired. For over ten years they had ran from the ravages of war, always one step ahead of the mauraders, hell bent on their extermination. Chased from their home across the Great Sea, they had left their ships long ago and moved inland. All with the great hope of a new future. But it was soon that realized that they had not find the Land of Hopes and Dreams but a land full of strife and war.. Once they numbered into the thousands, now but a few hundreds survived. They had made their homes many times, but always they were driven out. So for the tenth year of Running, and just as they had all but given up hope. They were visited by a stranger.. They had just lit the evening cooking fire, and all everyone was gathering what they cook for the community Cook, when they noticed a stranger sitting upon the ground watching them. No one had seen him come through, the night eyes had called a warning. The men quickly gathered up their spears and arms.. when the stranger spoke, “Fear Not, for I have been watching you all, and I know of your many struggles, and though you are few, if you heed my words.. you will grow powerful and many.. Your sons and daughter will find a place that you all so desperately seek, a land to call Home.” The Folk began looking at each other, not know what to make of this stranger and his promises. For they had all but given up hope and had come to understand that they would be forced to a life of roaming the land.. Sarak, who lead the People those many years ago, Stood in front of the stranger, “Who are you? And how do you know what our future holds? The stranger stood and reached behind him, and brought forth a large book, “Read this, study it.. follow it.. It will guide you to this place where you may rebuild your lives.. “ Sarak, slowly took the book, “What good is a book to us, there are few who could read your words, and what bargain are you trying to strike?” The stranger, smiled, and told him.. “Read the book, for you will find that any here who gaze at it, will find that they may read the book.” Sarak looked up to ask the stranger more questions, but found him gone.. He slowly opened the book, expecting to be swallowed up by witchcraft, and found the pages contained a map, and what they could expect upon their journey. There were many pages.. and he found that some of the words.. though he could read, He did not understand their meanings… He looked upon the people who had gathered around.. “Pack up your belongings.. we leave at first light. The Folk traveled another Two years.. follow the Book and the finally knew who the stranger was that appeared before them that day.. But many were distrustful, and some began to grumble that the book would not lead them to a new land but to their deaths.. for while they had traveled.. they had been attacked, Disease had ran rampad through the children, and hunger began to take its toll.. The folk were just about to turn back, and when they walk into a clearing and standing before them were green rolling hills, they could hear the bubbling of streams below them. They stood awestruck at the scene before them. It was then they Notice the Book Glowing a Dark Deep Red.. And then they heard the Voice.. “My people, for though you did not realize it, you were and always will be.. I have lead you to this, to call home, Use my book to help you rebuild your lives.. and to grow stronger. These hills have been untouched since the days of old.. But be ware.. For the strife of war cannot be contained forever.. but only a short time.. And for that you must prepare, and rebuild the people. The hawk closed the book, It had been almost a hundred years since the days his people came to the Hills. For that is what they called it The Hills, and the people so long ago began calling themselves.. The hill People..
