Faith: Angelique

The Foundation was a dream given form and later a nightmare to those who opposed the rule of Queen Angelique. Founded by a long dead monarch, a minor king of an ancient bloodline and fiefdom, the Foundation had been created as a simple trading alliance between multiple sovereign nations upon the isle of Islan. As rapport between the signatory nations grew, more and more matters of importance were handed over to the Supreme Chancellor and his advisory council. Their skill at leadership, fair and equitable governance, and the protection of their citizenry was well known throughout Islan. As the Old Empire fell, Queen Angelique came to the Supreme Chancellor and asked for his support in the burgeoning conflict with Barnabas and Leto, the other pretenders to the Imperial Throne. Angelique had always ruled her land with a steady, iron grip. The rule of law permeated every aspect of her reign. On occasion, rumors would speak of harsh penalties, oppression, and deft cruelty, but with those rumors would also come the ringing endorsements of her rule and men who believed in the compassion of blind justice.
The Queen asked for the Foundation to join her ranks and cast away their plowshares in favor for the sword. The Supreme Chancellor knew that refusing a royal scion of the Empire would mean the end of the Foundation and possibly an eternity in the dungeons beneath the Queen’s citadel. Secretly, the Supreme Chancellor loved Angelique; he had concealed these inappropriate feelings for one of noble birth so as to protect his life and lands. Historians would say that this unrequited love for his Queen would be the proverbial “straw that broke the camel’s back” when it came to the decision to join Queen Angelique’s longing for the power of the Imperial Throne.
Historians would also note that this unrequited love would never be fulfilled. Shortly after the signing of the war declarations that pitted the Foundation against many ruthless nations under the direction of Leto and Barnabas, the Supreme Chancellor would drop dead in his bed chambers, the practitioners of medicine would never identify the cause of the malady that took him. Some more disreputable historians would claim foul play on the part of the Queen or one of her noble court. The Queen, caught off guard by the death of the noble Supreme Chancellor, exercised her new powers given to her by the Foundation treaties. She installed a new Supreme Chancellor, one she believed would do her bidding as a figurehead of the Foundation.
As the world changed and took on the horrible landscapes of war, so did the once peaceful Foundation. In place of ministers and trade viceroys, generals and knights became more visible within the inner sanctums of government. The successive Supreme Chancellors were given increasing military power until there was nowhere one could go without seeing the armed presence of the Foundation military.
From its humble beginnings as a trading alliance to a military power on Islan, the Foundation had become Queen Angelique’s sword. Its purpose: the complete and utter destruction of all those who would not bow before their Queen.

Forward the Foundation!
The Ranking System The Foundation does not recognize complex ranking systems and foolish strategies for deployment of assets. We therefore have kept it simple for the players who wish to join:Chancellor: This is the leader of the Foundation government. He is advised by the true heirs to power within the new Foundation, the Citizen Generals, or as they are called by those within their command, the Warlords.
Citizen General: This is the real power behind the Chancellor. Each Citizen General, or Warlord, advises the Chancellor, but rumors persist that their power is far greater than that of the Chancellor. The Citizen General is allowed to have one Adjunct Citizen General, usually a General in training.
Knight: This is everyone else in the guild. When knighted by the Chancellor and with the approval of the commanding Citizen General, a knight takes on new responsibilities.
Citizen: These are the untested members of the Foundation who have yet to fully integrate into their new home.
Rules of Conduct The Foundation requires much of its membership, if you are looking for a laid back guild this is NOT the guild for you. Below are a few other rules of conduct that we expect from our membership. Violation of these rules can lead to removal from the guild.
- Attend every war chat. You will be notified ahead of a war chat, so you must be there. The mIRC program is a necessary tool.
- Inactivity for more than two days without prior notification will result in being booted from the guild.
- You must have a Temper's Ball screen name to be a part of this guild so that you can visit and participate in the Foundation Guild Forum.
- You are required to have either ICQ, AIM, or some other instant messenger (such as Trillian) program so that the guild management can contact you in a pinch. If you play from work or cannot use one of these programs you should notify the Supreme Chancellor immediately.
- You do not need to be online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, but activity is a must. If you continually violate any of the above rules, we will have no choice but to remove you from the guild.
- All guild members should participate in Temper's Ball. The community wants to hear your voice, even if it is just in war threads.
- It is acceptable practice to suggest new strategies, new wars, and even make recommendations for how the guild should be run. The final say on this falls with the Citizen Generals and the Supreme Chancellor.
- If the Supreme Chancellor is missing for more than a week and has not appointed a Regent, the Citizen General and the Knights should take the helm of the guild.
- By entering into this guild you swear your lands, your armies, and a portion of your free time, to the Supreme Chancellor. He is free to do with this as he pleases and he promises it won't hurt.
