All Welcome

The Early Prophets had forged the creation, faith had become truth, devotion a reality.

Angelique, the self-proclaimed Queen of Islan, ruled her land with a steady grip. The rule of law permeated every aspect of her method. On occasion, the rumors would speak of harsh responses, oppression and deft cruelty. But with those rumors also came the ringing endorsements of those who believed in the compassion of blind justice.

Raised in an older House of the Empire, a quiet dignity hangs on the shoulders of young Barnabas. Each action taken, each stance held with forethought and a preponderance of the effects on all his subjects. Only a few close advisors have his ear, and with this come opinions of arrogance, untested wisdom, and the impression of being manipulated. On the battlefield however, this grace and steady deliberation is revered, by enemies and soldiers alike.

Leto, the smartest of three, rose to fame in circles not mentioned in polite conversation. An ear to the ground, a man of the people, his following has grown with a deep personal commitment to those around him. The name Leto has a dual edged meaning to many, wild, chaotic, and unpredictable while at the same time conjuring images of a generous, charismatic leader with a penchant for caring for the poor.

They grew in stature, for like new children, they learned about their worlds. Peace was abound, but they learned quickly, their thirst for knowledge never appeased.

It was during a previous time that the Disciples of Chaos arose. It was founded from despair and ecstasy. The dawn of the Disciples had arrived, this is as told in the Book of Krajaz, the sacred tome of the Disciples.

Opening the Sacred Tome, you begin to read how the Disciples of Chaos began.

In the days of Darden, Isonia and Foret...Lord Kalan was married to Lady Tilone. Theirs was a peaceful existence, for they owned lands in the south of Tismad, where crops flourished and people were blissful. The war had raged on for an age now, but peace had only been known here. Lord Kalan had enlisted for the crusade for Darden against the non-believers, his fighting had been away from his lands so far.

Lady Tilone was now blossoming as she carried their first child. A son or daughter she did not care, for it was a blessing from Darden, a symbol of love between her and Kalan. She spent her times guiding the affairs of their lands, making sure all would be well for Kalans return, so he would be proud.

Lady Tilone stood atop a hill as she looked upon her lands, indeed this was a beautiful day she remarked to her hand maiden Cerphis. The sun was high in the cerulean sky, not a cloud adorned it. The crops glistened like gold in the fields and the river babbled beneath them. From the north she suddenly saw a body of men making haste towards her kingdom. As they came into view she saw Kalan was amongst their numbers.

Excitedly she met him, throwing her arms around him and kissed his cheek, “Kalan, my love your home to me, this is truly a wonderful day.”
Kalan smiled down at his wife, how she had changed, twas true expectant women were radiant, “Tilone my love tis not good news that brings me here, for word has been received that forces of Isonia have been noted marching towards these lands. We are here to protect you and defeat the Isonians to please Darden. May I present our Prophet, Rantuz, a great and wise man.”

With this a tall dark haired man kissed Lady Tilone’s hand, “My Lady an honour indeed, fear not for I will protect thee from harm. Darden guides us well, we have not been vanquished yet and this is not the time to start.” He then strode off to ready his troops for battle. Kalan kissed his wife once more, “See my love we are in good hands, tis rumored that Rantuz communes with Darden himself, for he his a descendent of a First Prophet, one of the creators. I must go now but after this we shall spend more time together, for I have leave to be here for the birth of our child..” He to then walked back to his troops. Lady Tilone was so happy, for he was back and soon they would be three. She walked back to their home to await his return.

Rantuz however had grown complacent with his triumphs, he thought himself and his troops immortal now. Preparation had been lacking for this latest confrontation. Kalan expressed his concerns that the plan was flawed, their flanks were unprotected and that the Isonians would scythe through them. Rantuz scoffed at such a suggestion.

That day the battle raged, Rantuz’s forces met them head on, but as predicted by Kalan many of their men were killed. Rantuz was forced to retreat back to the hill. Many men were lost, their demise felt by the remaining of Rantuz’s force. Their sadness and despair flowed into the cup. The weight of this grief weighed Darden down. Soon the cup began to run over with despair. Darden quickly drank the excess. Grief spread through him. He could not bear this anymore, it was too much to bear. Looking down he saw Rantuz... This was his fault now he must pay. Darden spoke quietly into Rantuz’s mind, he whispered softly feeding him the pain, the disappointment, the anger, the unhappiness and guilt he felt. Rantuz screamed out loud, his mind burned, his heart was exploding in his chest, the blood raged through his body. The guilt was unbearable.

Upon hearing the blood curdling screams, Kalan rushed to see his prophet, burst out of his tent. Rantuz ran right into Kalan. “Kalan you self-righteous cur, look what you have done” screamed Rantuz. Kalan was taken aback with this, what had happened to him, this was not Rantuz.

“Oh my Prophet what is wrong with you, have you the sickness?”
“Sickness is it? Is that what you have given me? Your evil has infected me."

He began to tear the flesh from Kalan's arms. Kalan and Rantuz’ aide, Hurneus, grasped him trying to stop him from further damage. They struggled. Rantuz seemed to possess an abnormal power as he knocked Hurneus out, and flung Kalan to one side. He moved swiftly and snatched a sword from Hurneus lifeless body. He then flung himself like a wild beast, at Kalan. Howling like a wolf he pounded Kalan, and finally beat him unconscious.

From the castle, Lady Tilone heard the fearful noises from the hill. She could see naught, but a shiver ran down her spine. Calling to her personal guard, Wolfran, she bade him to gather the horses for the must ride to see what was happening. He tried to protest but Lady Tilone had her mind set, for her husband was up there. Upon alighting at he peak of the hill, the sight that greeted them was terrifying to view. She saw her husband staked out on the ground, his body mutilated beyond comprehension, a wooden box was positioned at his feet. Lady Tilone ventured to go to her husband, but Wolfran prevented her.

“My Lady we know what has done this, I will go, please be still.”

He walked to the body of his master and looked upon him, it was as if the demons had been at him. He must not let Lady Tilone see her husband in this state. He grabbed the box and lifted the lid, its contents made him choke. He composed himself and looked closer, attached were scrawled notes. What demon was this? He looked at the first, “A hand so he will never draw arms against the righteous” , the second “A tongue removed so it will never be able to tell its untruths again”, thirdly “He cannot spy for the false gods now he has no eyes.” and finally “This heart will not beat inside this evil corpse no more, for it is rotten.”

Wolfran turned to his mistress with tears flowing down his cheeks, he could not reveal these contents to her, it would kill her to know these contents and how her beloved Kalan had been mutilated. He saw the anguish in her face, he had to get her away from here a bad force was at work. A figure burst forth from the shadows, wild eyed and blood soaked. Before Wolfran could react, it approached Lady Tilone. She turned and screamed as the wild-eyed and blood soaked Rantuz slashed at her belly with his sword. Wolfran leapt on the figure and stabbed it in the heart. Rantuz slumped to the ground, the life extinguished from him.

Wolfran proceeded to his mistress’ side. She lay still, her breathing heavy her eyes wide open. She looked up at her anguished guard, she whispered gently “Wolfran, my baby?”

He gently parted her slashed clothes to look at the incision, it had cut through to the womb, revealing her child. He removed his dagger from its sheath and widened the wound. He then removed the child from the womb, placing it delicately upon his mistress’s chest. “Tis a young girl, mi lady, a daughter for you”, he silently wept as she cradled and soothed the child. For this was the last deed Lady Tilone carried out on this mortal plain. She exhaled her last breath blessing the child.

Wolfran, picked up the child. He cradled her in his arms and cried aloud. The infant was dead. It had not even tasted its first breath of air. Wolfran was on his knees rocking the child, weeping uncontrollably. How could this have happened? He wondered what devilish forces were at work here.

Looking down upon the scene Darden now saw the consequence of his actions. His rage had produced this fate. He was saddened as he looked on. His fury had meant his own followers had died. His punishment had grown out of control. He had to act to right these wrongs. He had to create some good from this.

Wolfran continued to hold the child when suddenly a blinding light burst into the night sky, the wind blew and it made a sound as if the heavens were singing. From above, a ball of beaming white light shimmered above Wolfrans head. A voice all around him spoke forth.

“I am Darden. The chaos of tonight has been unjust, the innocent have suffered. Place the still child on the wooden casket.”
Wolfran fearful of his God, placed the dead infant atop the casket and backed away.

The sky above energised, and a bolt of energy came from the darkness, surrounded the casket for what seemed an age, then was gone just as quickly. Wolfran dashed over to the casket, expecting a charred mess. He looked down and fell to his knees. He took hold of the child, for it was a miracle, the babe girl was alive.

The child looked up with azure blue eyes and smiled up at the soldier. “Praise be to Darden, ” he cried out. The voice boomed again.
“Take care of this child for she is your ward, her parents slain by my prophet now reside with me. They shall smile down upon her and guide her. In the casket are the tools which will protect and aid her. Direct this child well, for she has been given a blessed life. For one day this child of chaos shall stride forth to uphold all that we hold dear. She one day will be a leader of my people.”

With this Darden was gone, the air flew about that night with the turmoil of it all, it sung through the trees, sweet music arising from the winds. Wolfran wrapped the child in his cloak, to protect her from this melodic swirling wind. He looked kindly upon her, but she needed a name. It was up to him to name this blessed child. He thought for a while. What should he call her? His ears perked up as the winds sang another sweet tune. Then it came to him…the music, the beauty of it all.

He would name her from this night, Aria. The blessed child would bear the name of the songs. Lady Aria, yes that was it a fitting name indeed.

He placed the child down and proceeded to bury his lord and lady and the tragically crazed Rantuz. Then he remembered, the casket. Darden had mentioned the casket. He approached the box with dread, as he knew what it contained. He looked upon it. The metal lock had fused into a jumbled mass. He cracked the lock off and hesitantly lifted the lid. As he opened it a gleam appeared from the inside. He looked closer, it did not contain the results of the carnage. He placed his hand in and lifted out a golden sword decorated with a fist. Then he removed a dagger with an eye adorning its hilt. Thirdly, he took forth a staff with a red ruby at its apex. The last item in the box was a scripture of some sort.

Time passed. Wolfran & Ceraphis raised the child in the way of Darden. He taught his Lady Aria the mastery of the sword and the art of war. Magi’s taught her the art of sorcery and local monks educated her in the word of Darden.

Upon the night of her 18th birthday, Darden came to Lady Aria in her dreams. There he told her the time had come to fulfil the prophecy. That he required her aid to raise arms and fight for her God and for the freedom from the forces of evil of Foret and Isonia. He directed her to the casket, as there was her destiny. She quickly awoke from this dream knowing she had a mission, a purpose to her life. She spoke to Wolfran, he told her of that fateful night so long ago and that she was the child who arose from Chaos. He then dusted off the casket and presented her with it. She opened the box and lifted each item. She felt the raw energy soaring through them. Now things were clear, now she knew all, and she spoke aloud...

“These are magical artifacts that were blessed and given by Darden many ages ago. They are to be cherished as a part of our long history.
They will symbolize our fight to bring chaos and confusion to our enemies. The days of Darden are no more. My dear Wolfran, we now must show our strength and fight for the good of Leto. From this day we and others whom join us will be known as the DISCIPLES OF CHAOS
