Thanks, y'all, glad you like it. Now, to actually do something like post! XD

Oh, eventually I'm going to go through all of this and reformat it into something more cohesive and story-like, fix typos and redo the posts into something that looks like it's written together as much as possible. The only changes are going to be purely typos or formatting. I might not get to that for awhile, though.

Sorry...had to cut this post short. My mom decided I shouldn't be up this late *shrugs* I'll finish it asap (probably as another post entirely).

Yargh, Final Fantasy is kicking my ass!

I'm stuck forever in Mushroom Rock Valley (who names these things?) and cannot get past because those stupi lizard things keep exploding Auron and Yuna...

Yeah, I totally had something relevant to say and I forgot what it was.... Something about the title, I think...

If I remember, I'll come back

1. Crazy Japanese people high on angel dust is who names Final Fantasy things. I mean, look at FF8 with ExcaliPOOR. There was another one of these games with ExcaliPER and it was worthless too. Trying to figure out FF names is on par with several forms of psychosis. And if you're talking about the Basilisks, the things that have Stone Gaze, then yes, those are really uber weak if you don't kill them in a hit or two. I suggest lots of Softs and anti-stone equipment.

2. I have days like that all the time, don't feel too bad. We await your real point. *taps foot*

EDIT: And in Squaresoft's case, they're high on the smell of barrles upon barrels of cash too.

Double-post for good reason. Well, "good" really is subjective...

I'd like to nominate Khavi for "Best Single Line I've Seen Thusfar In An RP": "You tell me where Josh is, or I'll won't just give a scene, I'll give you the whole goddamn stage play!" I am seriously not worthy of how well this line works...

*goes off to die in bed only to be transmigrated as a better character tomorrow*

Postby Edward Mantella » Wed Jun 16, 2004 9:42 pm

Its been to long since I last checked on the Writers Corner... I used to check it all the time but then I never saw anything interesting and I quit checking and then you guys sneak this one in on me and I almost miss it. Well I know it is a bit late in the game, but I would still like to join this one if you'll have me.

Name: (Dr.) Edward Mantella
Age: 43
Height: 6'6'
Weight: 230 lbs
Occupation/faction: Space Pirate (ex-psychologist) / unaffiliated

Appearance: Edward Mantella is a large man in good physical condition, despite his size he has the air of an intellectual about him as opposed to that of a ignorant muscle head. He has long reddish-brown hair and a neatly trimmed goatee and mustache. His green eyes are rimmed by thin framed spectacles. He generally dresses casually, though not sloppily, a jeans and a tee-shirt, almost always with a black field coat over top.

Personality: Edward is not the most pleasant of companions. He
cares for few others besides himself and does little to hide that fact. He is cold, harsh, and has a very short temper and is inclined to violence when upset, though he can keep himself under control if he feels it necessary. He has very little patience for stupidity. He also has a very keen wit almost always put use in the form of sarcasm.

Back-story: Edward Mantella was once one of the most renowned psycologists on earth or any of its colonies. He was a successful, wealthy and happy, with a lovely wife and two beautiful children. But on a trip to earth (his first in fact, having lived his entire life in space stations) his wife and children were killed by stray bullets in a botched mutant hunt. The psychologist had a complete break down his sanity fading and his life falling apart. (here is where he developed his harsh personality and violent temper). To make a long story short he eventually resorted to becoming a space pirate as a way to take out his anger and violent desires. Presently he is stuck on earth (a place he loathes to be) because his ship has been impounded and much of his crew arrested.

Strengths: Through his years of work as a psychologist as well as innate talent, Edward is incredibly skilled at reading people. He can learn a great deal about people just from their subconscious habits, mannerisms, speech patterns etc. It makes him nearly impossible to lie to successfully. He is also quite strong physically. He is very keen eyesight (with his glasses)

Weakness: His harsh personality makes him generally unliked. He can barely see at all without his spectacles. Also his violent temper can at times lead to trouble.

Interesting charcter, Edward. I'm intrigued to see how you'll fit into our sick little world here. You can post once you get ideas.

EDIT: Khavi, did you figure out what your incredibly important point about something was yet?

Hope your stay is long. *smiles* Now...I'm actually fairly curious about your piratey guy. If someone had been living a lie for a very large chunk of their life to the point of that lie becoming very much like reality to them, do you think he'd even notice? (yes I am asking on behalf of my loverly little mutant spy/double agent) She's been Laila for so long that she only vaguely remembers being anything else, and she's been hiding her mutation for just as many years. I honestly know very little about how practicing a lie can make it seem more like truth or whatever, so anyone is free to comment on the likelihood that some of our character's secrets are at least safe for a little while.

Disclaimer: With your doctor being in the outer circle, it's unlikely you'd ever meet Laila, but she'll end up hearing about you, and her spies may eventually meet you. *shrugs* No real valid purpose to the question aside from curiousity. *smiles*

Yeah, so, like... I still don't remember what my important point was. But by this point its probably void anyway, considering the fact that story has successfully moved on since then...

Oh well.

I'll remember next week some time, at like 4 am when I get up for a glass of water. That's how my mind works on the summer.

Stupid noticing thing:

Khavi, your sig line, the yellow part. That's from The Chronicles of Riddick, no?

Anyway, off to think about moving on with the story...Must...think of some way other than the obvious to get into the resistance hideout.

Crayfish, God help us all...

It is from Riddick!

I heard that line and I thought it was perfect.

It just seemed like something that needed to be stuck on the end of what I already had... (Who knows what band I stole those lyrics from? My favourite band, and if you know them... you are officially a Cool Kid.)

Haha, and I don't know why, but I think Crayfish is like the coolest name ever for a resistance leader. I mean, they're always like Black Dog or Lone Wolf or The Lion or something... Nice change of things, to be a creepy crawly little awful thing like a crayfish.

It's from the song Cruel Mistress by Flogging Molly.

*gets his award for being a cool kid*

I'll keep this in mind, by the way...And I do agree that Crayfish aren't terribly savory.

Who needs a drink? I know I do. *gets out his "creativity juice", read: anything in my fridge*

exactly! The crayfish has long been ignored in fiction. I later intend to immortalise such other undervalued names as the Seahorse, the llama, the stickleback and ,my personal favourite, The Koala! oooh.... can you feel the intimidation coming out of that name? THE KOALA!!!!

ahem. Yeah ok, it was kinda on the spot. But hopefully it's enough to bag the "Strangest name in rp" gong.

Oh an Mykayla I love cajun food too!!!! Bring on the shrimp!

We need a Goat too. And possibly The Triggerfish.

Yay, Prophet! You know Flogging Molly! (I didn't figure anyone would guess it, I only know a few people who actually know Molly...)

...and what's a stickleback?
