Mykayla? M'Lady? I want you to know...This is Entirely Your Fault. ^_^
~~~~~
Name: JEX-4627A/B
Alias: John and Jane Doe
Age: Undocumented
Height: 7'0"/4'0"
Weight: 1.5t/50lbs.
Occupations: Hideing. Generally, the former finds work wherever large, imposeing people might be needed for doing imposeing things. The latter periodically finds a place in accounting, being good at numbers.
Appearance: 'John' is a large boy, and difficult to keep inconspicuous. Bereft of sufficiently bulky clothing, it's fairly impossible to miss the fact that he has undergone signifigant modification of a distinctly cybernetic variety. A full conversion, full of undecorated hard edges, he tends towards bulky, heavy clothing. It helps not draw quite so much attention. Manifestly ugly, his visage has been stripped of any real semblance of humanity and replaced with a sort of art-deco gargoyle's glare. His expression frozen in a hateful glower, it is often difficult to tell his mind (although his adopted sibling seems to do well at it).
'Jane' is as far from John in appearance as one could imagine getting. She is frail, almost wraithlike in build. Thin and with the stark white pigments of an albino, she looks almost as though she is constantly fadeing from the proverbial stage. Slate gray eyes flicker rapidly from one point to the next, shineing with a sullen sort of intelligence. Clothingwise, she keeps things simple although she shares John's tendency towards bulkier clothing than strictly needed.
Personality: Both are inclined towards their strengths, although neither is stupid. The brawn, of neccesity, knows when to defer to the brain and the brain acknowledges that thoughtful discourse will not solve every problem. They are careful, fully aware of the precariousness of their lives. Together they are nomads, since roots are forbidden by survival.
Apart, they are nothing.
Class/Faction: Rogue, yet open to other options.
Weapons/other equipment: Negligible, insofar as weaponry. Their equipment is strictly utilitarian in nature, and their most outstanding find has been a suitably sized transport vehicle transformed into a mobile home.
Avatar/Chaos Magic: Of the two of them, Jane has the most potential in this area although it is manifestly unmanifest and pointedly unlikely to change in that regard. Neither would register more than the merest of human tics on anyone's Mage-O-Meter.
Gene-Spliced: In John's case, no more than was neccesary to ensure his survival during his augmentation. Jane, on the other hand, has had extensive modification in this area to the tune of accelerated neural interface and some psion-mimicry. 'Powers' are limited, though comparitivly dramatic by way of communication.
Cybernetics: The opposite number here. John is, we have mentioned, a full conversion with all the benefits there pertaining to. Strong, as is to be expected, he does have a surprising turn of agility and speed that most folks would not tend to expect from someone his size. Save for feats of cleverly applied strength he does lack for on-board weaponry.
Both are outfitted with a variety of utility systems such as communications enhancements, although they lack for luxuries like signal encryption. They can, however, at least talk to each other and coordinate at a distance and in relative silence if need be as well as perform rudimentary cybernetic parlor tricks.
Weaknesses: One would hope the obvious need not be stated, but in case it is missed...they cannot survive without each other. This is by design. Mental injury stemming from the loss of a close companion notwithstanding, they simply are not built to function without support. Either would likely die without the data-stream connection provided by their communications suite, driven from carefully engineered grief to suicide or simply brought down due to some avoidable error that they could not see without the perspective of the missing mind.
Noone said it was a nice experiment, eh?
There are, of course, other things. John may be a juggernaut, but Jane remains duly vulnerable to bullets. Likewise, Jane doesn't generally need to worry about powerful electromagnetic fields except to keep John the hell away from them. Rather than, at this point, attempt to catalogue everything that could possibly hurt them (it's pushing midnight, and it's a long flibbing list if you sit and think at it), I'll just put an et cetera here and let any malefactors use their own imagination, mm?
History: Hidden History is Half the Hoopla! This would be...telling. Also, it is only half-formed in my poor be-bruised brain at half-past elevenses on a 21.6k connection to which I have been condemned. I will take a nap now, and check on this in the morning to see if anything needs to be changed.
Good night!
1) So why do you continue to perpetuate all this hatred of FFT? *laughs* I'm kidding, making your brain hurt entertains me mildly in a sad, stupid way...
3) Okay, so FF9's flaws are more prevalent to me than you, and FF8's are more prevalent to you than me. Settled. But ff9 still sucks...
5) In FF9's case, it is, just like FFX-2 is mainly girl-targeted (don't argue this, you know I'm right), and FFT is targeted at awesome people *Grin*. Retards high on angel dust is Evangelion's demographic, everyone knows that. In NGE's case, the children are fucked up children, so it's okay.
7) Fine, but you're still wrong *laughs* Seriously, makes sense and doesn't really matter.
*Sigh* Fine, I'll freakin' play FFX-2 after I'm done overpowering myself with Disgaea, just to prove myself right about it not being anything worthwhile. And of course I'm right about Tidus *cocky grin*.
AS TO OTHER SHIT:
The Church of Entropy is the major one, the one with what amounts to the vast majority of the political power in this country. There are sanctuaries that aren't affiliated with CoE, but they're kinda underground, usually started by the Resistance.
Just as the Government is seeped with CoE-ness, the CoE and its houses of worship are similarly dripping with Government presense. In other words, the Government keeps close eyes on the CoE from within. Of course, most "little churches" are antagonized by CoE and Government officials that catch whiffs of things construed as "Anti-Government" activities.
Oh, and as long as you enjoy the Government watching you, CoE is fine *chuckles* otherwise, just watch your back in the non-CoE based places.
And new person, *yawn* I'll try and figure out your cha tomorrow, er, later today...
Hrm, I did kind of forget the whole CoE thing. Oops. I knew I wanted to make up some strange hybrid name for the religion of the church, but since I didn't, I'll go with what happens. :)
Just to contribute to the thread hijacking -- FFX-2 is an incredible game with an extremely horrible J-pop coating. Ignore the characters, dialogue, and story, and concentrate on the game. It's got the best gameplay in the series.
Yay! Finally, a supporter of my claims! Seriously though, I think I need to stop for a bit so I can actually get my character introduced in the story. It looks like I have to break it up in parts or else I'll never get it done. I only have to add a bit more and I should at least have a little bit done for tonight. Well, until then...
Oh, so now Blade's a slacker now? *laughs* I know you'll get to it when you can.
To Solik: .............
...............
What???
How the hell do you get a good game if you ignore the characters, dialogue, and story??? That's so fundamentally beyond me... Oh well, I'll see how good the gameplay is for myself sometime. Not until I beat the pants off of Disgaea, and that's being slowed because I would rather be writing stuff and talking to my ladylove. *coughwhippedtoolcough* Oh well...
*pokes FalseProphet* So what did you think of BINK?
*shakes head* Am I the only person here who isn't a gamer or anime nut? Makes me wonder if I signed on for something beyond my abilities if you guys will be referring to things I know -nothing- about.
*Gets poked* What? Oh right, I need to approve characters. *looks* A little confusing in terms of structure, but it looks like you have a cyborg dude and a "mentally accelerated" (assume this is super intelligence like, say, Brain from Pinky and The Brain the cartoon show; if you don't know about this, you need to go hunt it down and watch it until your eyes bleed) girl character that are linked nearly symbiotically. Okay, sure, make it work and keep up with the storyline, and that's fine I suppose.
And stop complaining about being uninitiated in Anime and Gaming you two. Go out and do something about it. Rent some mainstream-ish anime, like Princess Mononoke or Spirited Away, and watch it. Rent a system and a game mentioned by one of us "nuts", or borrow same from friends in the business. Either that or just come up with something to talk about other than games and anime, and we'll talk about that for awhile before we go insane again. No offense, just constructive thought on the situation here. I don't want to lose two perfectly good RPers because they don't like OOC dealings.
*pats false prophet* Seen Princess monoke...Looks like the same animation as warriors of the wind. And Ive played just about ever game mentioned. Maynot have beat them heh but i have played them.
some of the animations in lunar the silver star series (i think thats the name heh i forget these things yanno) were down right hilarious. And the bromides(i think) I made it my mission once to collecte as many as possible. hehehe. As to final fantasy, i prefer FFIII. *shrugs* dunno why. And i sorta fell in luuuuv with the cg scene thingys in FFX. I wish i had a working ps2 and could get my hands on FFX2 hehe. I wanna see more of the graphics.
You know what kills me in some of the newer finalfansty games. The card games and that whole blitzball thing. I got sooooo good at em that I played that and nuthin else on the game. Forget about the baddies haha.
There I have contributed to the anime gameing convo. And I'll have you know that because I have absalotely no friggin Idea what you people are talking bout when it come to the anime (havent read much of any of those posts hehe) that im not gonna drop outta the RP hehe. I was just breifly sypathising with Myk. Because I luuuubs her so and I dun want her to feel left out or alone hehehe.
Now to introduce a new topic of converstaion. Comic books -not- manga. Yanno has the names DC, darkhorse, Top cow, Broad Sword, Marvel on the cover some place *cheeky grin* Do any of you nuts read em?
BAH!
Akira, Vampire Hunter D, and Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlines. Begin with those. Good movies, and twisted enough to keep you interested.
As for games... *Shrugs* Final Fantasys actually bore me after a bit. The stories can be interesting, but playing for all those hours to get only a little ways into the storylines(Maybe I fight too much to beef up my chars. *Shrugs*) is that interesting to me. Though, if you give me a good fast action game, I could play for a while, if I'm in the right mood.
Rak, Ive seen all those movies. Well most all of em. Ive seen a lil of Vampire hunter D bloodlines or is it bloodlust I dunno. Anyways Something bout akira rubs me the wrong way. I wanna see metorpolis heh. *shrugs*
Now action games are blah. hehe. I suck at those. I like Fighting games hehe. Virtua fighter 4 makes me happy. No one can kick my butt at that game hehe. Yar!!!
*thwaps FalseProphet just because* I wouldn't leave because of OOC dealings silly. I'd just start ignoring the ooc thread (which could be bad if you guys ever did start talking about the roleplay). Besides, I own Spirited Away. I happen to love it, and I wish that some of the shots from that movie were available in poster form or something because I thought it was beautiful.
As for games, I know better than to start playing them. I have ADD and can become hypnotized by something as dull as peeling wallpaper off the wall (don't believe me, ask my mother). Playing games would in all likelihood keep me from living or working or doing other things that I currently enjoy doing.
My only problem with not being an anime or gamer nut is that you guys often refer to games or anime stuff when describing this world, the weaponry, the character styles and other things that are important to character interaction and story development. I just wanted to remind you not to simply resort to references in your descriptions of the world and how the magick and science of it co-exist so that people like me can still participate without goofing up on a regular basis.
Mykayla, wanna get some of my references? Watch Star Trek or Star Wars. :P Those will really only be dealing with Mal's, ship, though.
Still some of it, and the rest of my RP are basically winging it with what I glean from others, and from the descriptions.
I guess my only advantage is that I played FF7, so I kind of understand the "social" ring thing. *Shrugs* Just think of a round city, that would kind of resemble a tree stump, when looked upon from the sky. Each ringlet is a different economy. The middle being the richest, and the outer being the poorest. Well, that's what I remember, anyway. *L*
Rak, I like your description of the city with the tree rings. Excellent.
Well, I feel bad for falling behind in the story but my work shifts have gotten out of hand so I have morning and evening shifts alternating to the point I'm too tired to come online and write. Sorry. Tuesday I have a day off so either Monday night or Tuesday I'll have a post up. :)
Thanks Rahlan, it was the first thing that came to mind when I was trying to describe it to Mykayla. :)
I hope I didn't do anything wrong with the description of the church service, I figured that none of the proceedings would be the same, so I just went with something that I could toy with a bit later.
FP, you said that the government was a theocracy.. I'm not exactly certain of the term, and was just wondering what sort of official posts there would be and whether or not there was some form of council.
Also, how advanced is technology in this place.
And thirdly, is there a name for the anti-government organisation?
Just imagine there's something witty here for now. I'll get back to you later.
Yikes! That's one scary service you described there Mal. I have a feeling I'm gonna be turning down the churches offer to join if that turns out to be the norm. LOL
Long weekend with little computer time... will try and jump in again as soon as possible. :)
Oy gavult I've been away a mite too long. K, Lemmy answer questions...
1. Theocracy means that the government is lead by people from the chruch, at least in part. Like in this Earth, separation of church and state is the farthest thing from the way it works. There's kind of a terraced Senate/President thing, where each sector has 5 senators representing it and 1 vote per senator, and the President is the head of the senate, and majority rules (Prez gets 5 votes for tiebreaking, 4 normally). There's also the Advisors, who are almost entirely CoE officials (Archbishop being the highest level, then Bishop, then Prophet, then Priest, then Minister is the lowest of those who work for the church). There are 10 of these, who create more of less of an "inner" Sentate, who each get 3 votes. Boy that's boring...
2. Advanced technology. Basically, we have much faster computers, advanced Cyberspace technology, and some slicker conveniences. No transporters, no replicators, none of that shit. Plus, unless you're a hacker or are in the inner sectors, you probably won't have the best of everything, or even the best of most things.
3. Not an official FalseProphet (tm) approved one. It's just "the Resistance" until I come up with a better name...damn I'm lazy...
I'll look at post things for faults later...must...go do...wonderful things...for my best friend...Stimpy!
Would it be too late for me to toss a character into the mix for a little while? I don't post often and I can sustain my own storyline... but this is a really well done RP and I can't help myself.
Just tell us if you're doing something odd and massively impacting. Speaking of which, *posts something about my character's dealings out of need to do so ^_^;;;;;*
