Seval checked again the map he had layed out on the table. His years as a scribe in the kings palace had paid off. His abilities in drafting maps and writs of nobility came in handy in the day and age. A new age was coming, not the one he been born into. An age without Angelique, Barnabas, and Leto. The mighty kingdom of Twilight. A place where the stars always sparkled above, made famous by its astronomers who read many important peoples futures in the sky. Sadly, they could not see their own end. The night the sky fell, when the stars were put out one by one. They say that one of the gods, though no one is sure which, sent a massive metoer of ice and fire down towards the world, hoping to kill another who was plotting behind his back. None of that matters anymore. As far as anyone knows anymore, the gods are dead, smote down in their own greed. New gods have taken over, breed by new races spawned in the aftershock. The day was a normal day at first, with the sun shining brightly. The land was at peace, as the mighty knights of Twilight had ridden forth and ousted the heathen rebels, bringing stablity to the land. For the first time in a long time, seems had seemed to be looking up for the common folk. Then night came, and with it the fire of heavon. It is thought of now as the night death rained down on the lands. Thinking back, it was his on chronicals that had named it so. That had also been the day the sun did not set, as while the sun turned the sky purple, another massive firey ball lit the sky from above. The people did not get very frightened, as this had not been foretoled by their seers. Like the sun, the mighty meteor went across the horizon, and so the people thought all was well. Within a few minutes of its dissapearing, the sky went dark. One by one, the stars lost their gleam. The moon, shattered into fragments, no longer glowed bright. Next came the sound, as a mighty explosion tore the earth apart, splitting mountains in two;draining seas, and sending entire countries underground as the earth inverted.
Sighing to himself, Sevan remembered the months after. Hiding in the deepest dungeons and storerooms of the palace. To scared to come out. It had taken him and the few who he had found and brought to his hiding place over a year to brave the new world. Though, truthfully, they had only left because food had finally run out. To their astonishment, the land was not all that different. Rebuilding a few sections of the palace proved to not be to difficult, and in a few months they had made a livable villiage. In the following years, the world rebuilt itself, though many of its inhabitants could not survive the change, and no species took their place. Checking once more, Sevan marked an area on the map he was headed. It seemed to him, from the information of those who came from afar, added to what he understood of the geography of the land he saw from the highest towers; that this would be the most likely spot of human-like inhabitants. Rolling up his map, he placed it in his sachel, tied his waterskin to his belt, and set off with his stallion following close behind.
