The quiet march to the gate was interrupted when one soldier tripped and raised the attention of one of the fortress's patrols. Immediately Virgo ordered the charge, she hoped they could break through the gate before the cannons were fired at them. The troops drew their weapons and shouted all at once as they began running.

"Daryl!" Virgo shouted from the head of the charge. "Bring that gate down now!"

Daryl ran as fast as he could, and soon broke ahead of the charge. A few arrows flew past him as the patrols became aware of the invasion.

Nearing the gate, he exerted himself even further and jumped several feet into the air. As he rose into the air he reached over his shoulder to grip his massive war hammer, Granidor. He held it high over his head for a long moment as he floated at the apex of his jump, almost appearing to defy gravity.

"Upheaval!!" He shouted as he plummetted back toward the earth. He plunged the head of Granidor deep into the ground, releasing a schockwave in the direction of the fortress gate. The shockwave rushed underground, raising jagged stones and soil in its path. The shockwave passed through the gate and reach halfway across the courtyard before dissipating. The huge sharp rocks that were ejected by the force shredded the heavy wooden gate. Within seconds, the jagged rocks fell back down where they came, leaving only a scar on the earth and the shredded timber from the gate covering the ground.

Daryl stood where he landed, with his hammer buried in the ground for as long as he could to catch his breath. But before he could even fully inhale once, Virgo dashed past him. He shot his half breath back out, pulled his weapon out of the soil and continued the charge.

Virgo was the first one through the gate, she was met by a few confused soldiers. With a loud yell, the first soldier was impaled by her sword, Aria. Before she could make a move on the next victim, several Mynden archers burst through the gate, followed immediately by Daryl.

The confusion on the Doman soldiers quickly faded as they rushed to defend themselves and alert the other tower. After making short work of another few soldiers, Virgo caught a glimpse of someone moving with a torch toward a huge metal urn in the north of the courtyard. She quickly deduced that the urn must be some sort of furnace to use for signaling the other tower.

"Over there!" Virgo shouted at the archer, while pointing at the urn. She noticed her voice coming out somewhat muffled. Aria's effect was already starting.

Meanwhile, Daryl had rushed immediately through the courtyard, plowing through the little resistance with ease. He made his way toward the arched opening of the tower. Before he could make his way in, however, armed soldiers started pouring out of the tower and surrounding him. He just grinned and tightened his grip on Granidor. He charged at the men trying to surround him, deflecting their weapons as he advanced. Taking large arcing swing of his hammer, Daryl smashed through two, three, even four men at a time. Most could not stand against the force of the impact. Some were fotunate enough to suffer broken legs, others happened to be nearby while he took higher swings. Granidor smashed through weapon, shield, and armor as if they were nothing more than a thin sheet of paper.

"I'm bored, time for me to join the fray."

The battle was almost over, and most of the Domans were taken care of. Some fighting was still going on on top of the wall the figure was standing under. Their attentions were so focused inward that they failed to see him running toward the fortress. Suddenly, the figure made an inhumanly high jump, and kicked a random soldier off the wall toward the inside, before he landed. He looked around. The battle was indeed mostly over, all they were doing was some last cleanup. The Mynden soldiers of course immediately attacked him, but arrows just bounced off of him, and swords didn't even leave so much as a scratch.

He swiftly knocked out a bunch of them and tossed them off the wall, before the others ran off. He then looked downward, right into Daryl's face, who was just looking up to see where his solders were falling down from.

The man who suddenly interfered was Synck, a bald, tanned man, with red eyes and cat pupils.

"Who the hell are you?"

Synck took notice of the man's weapon.

"Daryl of the Laios Knights, lets see what you got."

Synck dived downward, head first. Daryl quickly braced himself and swung his mace. The end of Granidor and Synck's fist made contact.

BANG!

The impact created such a loud noise, it'd be a wake-up call for anyone within a mile. Synck was flung backward, but oddly managed to land on his feet with little effort. Upon landing, he shouted in agony, shaking the hand he just used to attack.

"OOOOOWWWWW! That HURT! Almost broke my hand!

Daryl was baffled. Any normal human being would not only have their fist shattered, but the rest of their arm as well. Who is this guy?

Synck quickly recovered and struck a fighting stance. He smiled.

"But I don't wanna be stalling too long, lets continue."

As Virgo fought along to Aria's song atop one of the walls, she heard a muffled thunderous roar creep up beneath the sword's voice. She looked all around for the source and found Daryl facing off with another man. The ground between them was disturbed, as if one of Granidor's shockwaves had hit there. Virgo knew something was wrong, she kicked two nearby soldiers away from her and jumped down to the courtyard.

Though she fell like a stone any anyone watching, to her the fall seemed to take several seconds due to trance she was placed in by Aria's battle resonance. She amused herself in the thought that she could fight so much faster and stronger in the trance, but gravity still worked at a normal pace. To her everybody seemed to be moving in slow motion, so not only her body was accelerated, but her mind as well.

Hitting the ground, she found herself standing opposite Daryl, with the mystery man between them. She quickly stood and charged at him. Confidently, Virgo arched her weapon out to prepare the attack. As she was about to bring her sword thrusting into the man's back, she flinched when she saw him moved at what seemed to be normal speed to her. As if he were in the trance with her.

Before she knew what happen, the man's foot had spun around and buried into her abdomen. Her trance was violently broken as the force of the impact made her lose her grip on Aria.

Virgo was shocked back to awareness when she heard a loud crash as she was hurled through the air away from her attacker. She noticed the ground before her and desperately reached for it, trying to stop herself. Her fingers scratched at the soil below her but fell from her grasp as her feet hit the ground, causing her to tumble backward. Her violent tumble was suddenly stopped as the hit the inside wall of the courtyard.

Looking over at the path she had travelled, she saw the crashing noise was made by her body smashing through a wooden wagon. As she looked, she saw a glimmer between the two halves of the wagon. Immediately realizing what it was, she ducked and covered her head with her arms. No sooner had she done so, that her sword impaled herself on the wall behind her, just above her right shoulder.

She coughed as she tried to catch her breath. She realized that if the sword that had fallen from her grip had just hit, then that whole plummeting through the air must've all happened in less than a second. She looked down at her armor and saw a large oblong dent in her armor. She untied the leather straps that held the front and back of the armor together, letting the polished steel plates hit the ground. Revealing a simple cloth undershirt and a corset.

Who the hell is this guy? She thought as she reached over her shoulder and pulled her sword from the wall.

Synck noticed somebody attacking from behind. Although amazed at the speed she came running in, he had enough time to react, so he kicked her away. He noticed that she was female.

"Then you must be Virgo, the only female Laios Knight."

As Daryl tried to hit Synck from behind, Synck quickly turned around and raised his hand in front of him as if to say 'halt'. Daryl was hurled back several yards by psychokinetic force.

He looked from one knight to the other.

"Come on, people. I did not come here to waste time tossing around some nobodies. I came here to test my strengths against real Laios Knights. Put your heart into this."

He returned to a ready position, awaiting incoming attacks from either side.

Test? This is hardly the time for a test!

"Very well, I'll show you the mettle of the Laios Knights!" Virgo shouted, sheathing her sword. She charged at Synck again, though her advance was much slower this time since Aria's effect had been dispelled when the sword left her hand.

When Daryl saw that she was charging, he prepared to attack as well. He was unsure what Virgo planned to do with her weapon sheathed, but he couldnt imagine she intended to fight this man hand to hand.

"I hope you know what you're doing, lass." Daryl muttered. Assuming Virgo had a plan, he began running toward Synck as well.

Virgo waited until she was almost face to face with Synck before doing anything other than running. When she was just a few feet away she jumped up as high as she could. Synck, suspecting an attack, quickly stepped to one side.

As soon as she was airborne, Virgo shouted to Daryl, who was then only a few yards away, facing her. "Daryl, Serkis tournament!!"

At first Daryl was confused, but he quickly realized what she meant. A while back during the Laios Knights' Tournament, Michael Serkis had defeated Daryl by landing on Granidor's head during an upward attack, the force of the swing added to his jump launched him very high in the air. That was when he fired a barrage of arrows that forced Daryl to yield.

As soon as he realized what Virgo meant, Daryl stopped in his tracks, sliding a few feet before coming to a stop. While he was still sliding, he swung his hammer back until it was over his head. He took a brief second to time it right with Virgo's jump, then brought the hammer down and up in the strongest arc he could muster.

Virgo landed as much of her feet as she could fit on the head of the upswung hammer, and immediately jumped upward with as much force as she could.

Daryl watched as Virgo flew up and out of sight through the fog. Virgo was much lighter than Mike, and she wasnt wearing her armor either. He hoped he hadn't swung too hard.

As she soared higerh and higher through the air and over the fog, she caught a glimpse of the sun peeking out over the horizon. When she noticed her ascension slowing, she closed her eyes and held her hands together, then began chanting the words for a spell.

As she chanted, she began to glow with pure white light. Nearing the apex of her flight, she stopped chanting, placed her hands out before her and seperated them, holding them with palms facing each other. The glow from her body slowly travelled along her arms and collected in a growing ball of energy between her hands.

She reached her peak after a few seconds of rapidly climbing and slowly began to fall backward. She thought for a moment, it was still fairly dark down below, and the fog was still thick.

Well, if Daryl knew enough to get me up here, he should know to keep his guard up.

Virgo braced herself, then spun around and flung her arms downward, pointing the ball of energy stright down.

"Solar Spear!!" She shouted, blindly releasing the holy energy into the fog below in a short straight beam. The force of the release slowed her fall to a near stop again.

She hoped that if nothing else, this would show the meddler that the Laios Knights are not to be trifled with. Continuing her descent, she began to cast the 'Angel Wing' spell to slow her fall.
