Some more bits of info:
Races: The Empire itself comprises of sixteen countries spread across half the Southern continent of the world. You will find elves Half-orcs, ogres and dwarves across the Empire but they are ethnic minorities compared to the humans.
The Elosians , because they have been so isolated have evolved in a different way to other human-kind. They have a form of natural magic that they do without thought ((Dusting shelves, changing hair colour etc. Think cantrips.)) They tend to be slender and lighter than other humans and this is down to their lighter, smaller bone structure. All Elosians have olive skin and hair colour varies from brown to black.
Imperial Structure:
Each country held by the Empire firstly has it's own council of seven that deals with local governing issues. There is a judicial system almost advanced as our own in modern times with lawyers and such, but the jury are generally made up of Imperial Lords and Ladies. Each Country also has a standing army of between 1 and two legions ((Similar in size to the Roman Legion)). Every person is counted as a citizen with the right to speak against a council decision and to live their lives in their own fashion. The exceptions however are criminals and any the Empire deem dangerous to a Country's well-being. These people are no more than slaves. Also Legionairres tend to act as police officers in times of peace, patrolling the cities.
Mercenaries:
The Empire likes to use mercenaries rather than their own legionaries for dealing with bandits and petty revolts. It is not untold for vast armies of thousands of merceneraies to be passing back and forth across the Empire.
The role of the former Elosians in the new society
Elosians cannot hold title until the family has served three generations in the Empire. They cannot bear arms. They cannot teach and they are forbidden from being in groups of more than five at any time. They are also forbidden from writing or painting or sculpting, lest it be at the commision of an Imperial citizen. In a sense Elosians have become the plebs seen in the old Roman Society. They generally do the menial jobs that others would not wish to do ((Though they are not slaves, they are paid for their work. But it is the only work they can generally get.)). That said there are still some wealthy Elosian merchants around.
On Magic: Imperial Magic is based around a mixture of artifact use ((Staves and wands and stones)) and spell component use ((Think D&D Wizards.)) There are few sorcerers ((We're talking for every 100 regualr wizards you might find one sorcerer)).
Elosian magic :
(Apart from the natural stuff) is all but dead. But the breaking of the stone released magic across the Elosian people, and there is a chance that some will awaken to new power ((Sorcerers)). Also not all of the Spell-bringer shards were destroyed. Some were never found.
One last point for now: Fantastical beasts:
Dragons are rife in the Empire. Though they vary between the tradition great wyrm ((The typical dragon image)) and small Fire drakes. These fire drakes are actually used in parts of the Empire as mounts, and there is a regiment amongst the Imperial army that speciafically trains with them. The same goes for griffons and the giant eagle and pegasi.
I'm an expert on shakespeare,
And that's a hell of a lot,
But the world don't need scholars,
As much as I thought.
