Those of you who have played the Shadowrun table-top RPG will know what the Sixth World is. However, for those who don't know, here is a little description. The Sixth World is a futuristic version of our own world, set in about 2060 and later. Technology is highly advanced and the corporations have all the power. But this is only half of the story, because around 2020, the world was awakened and magic returned to existence, so there is a nice blend of magic and technology in the Sixth World. More will be explained in my first post of the actual RP, so people can take a look at that to have a better idea of what things are like in the Sixth World.
I will not be using any of the Shadowrun game systems, so this will be completely free form role-playing. That being said, there are some rules.
1. Don't create power characters. A general rule that you see everywhere, but a good rule none-the-less.
2. If you want to join, post a character first so that people have an idea of who the character is and what they are capable of. (I will post mine at the end of this post.)
3. Be reasonable with magic. My character doesn't use magic, so I will leave magic up to any individuals who decide to use it, but be reasonable.
4. The highest grade cyberware (implanted technology and physical enhancements), are reserved for government or military purposes. Unless you have a reasonable explanation for how your character got his or her upgrades, be careful about what you choose.
5. If you are using magic, cyberware is not a good idea because the implanted technology will decrease your ability to use magic.
6. Don't kill anyone else's character unless you have arranged it with them prior to the action.
Well, now that the unpleasant bit is out of the way, let me just say that I am not a stickler for this game system, so beyond the general technology level and the existence of magic, I am not going to be too attached to everything being just like the RPG. So if you have a really good idea for a piece of cyberware, or have a great way for your character's magic to work, feel free to use it. Just keep in mind that cyberware implants usually have three levels of quality, 1 being low and 3 being high, and the highest grade is reserved for military use. Also remember that while having lots of implants might be cool, the human body can only handle so many before you become more machine than man.
Speaking of human beings reminds me that there are other races in Shadowrun, but I will not be strict of having to use those, use your own discretion, if there's a race you would like to introduce, just keep it reasonable.
Most characters in the game will be Shadowrunners, which is just a cool way of saying Mercenary. Shadowrunners do things for money, will do almost anything for money, including kill fellow human beings. But as with everything else, I'm not going to care if someone decides that they don't want to be a Shadowrunner.
Ok, now for my character.

History: Spectre was recruited to UCAS Special Forces directly out of high school at the age of 16. Unusually intelligent and skilled for his age, the military ingnored standard procedure and fitted him with military-grade cyberware. He was given Muscle Enhancements and Wired Reflexes that increased his strength, speed, and reflexes to many times those of normal people. They also fitted him with a Skillwire to increase his knowledge of military weapons and tactics. He serve with Special Forces for nine years, when at the age of 25 he decided he would rather put his skills to better use in an occupation that would get him more money. The military, outraged, tried to have Spectre killed on multiple occasions, but all of their attempts have failed. They still send someone out to get him whenever they hear rumors of his whereabouts, but they have since begun to devote their resources to more practical areas.
Spectre kept his Special Forces codename to help ensure his anonimity in his chosen occupation as a Shadowrunner, taking any job that meets his price, which can be rather steep.
Ok, that's my character. If anyone needs any ideas on where they can fit, I have a couple. In the first post, Spectre will be accepting a job. Some people could play other runners who get caught up and try to help him. Others could play runners hired by someone else to do the job before Spectre can. Others might also have been hired by the UCAS military to kill Spectre. But you can all use your own judgement and do what you want, this is all about having fun and roleplaying.
