Writing a Novel

Postby DemaM » Tue Dec 03, 2002 11:17 pm

Arighty.

I looked through the forum, and I think there is a thread like this. So I'll make one.

I am very interested in writing a story, more or less a novel. I was wondering. How do they do it? How do they get all they want into the story? How does one organize his Ideas? Distill them; form them, into something worth reading.

I have like 3 storylines that float through my head. I would like to put them on paper. But I have no sense of direction. Sometimes I sit down to write, but I get lost in thinking. I try to write, but there is too much in there.

Give me any general tips you guys might have.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

what I do is pick apart the character of the story, and write general descriptions of them. Then the setting, and history, then outline the plot. Once you outline the plot, just take one part of the outline and fill it out, then proceed to do so with the rest of it. That's how I did it, and it helped a lot. I was working on a novel, until I had a run of bad luck and kinda lost all my data(it was on the computer) No big deal, until I was unable to find my backup disk. Absolute nightmare that you just made me re-live, happy!!! J/K
