Ultimabase - UBSolo

Following checking that this thread/idea was ok by Decae.

[edited to reflect the most to evernights servers]

http://www.evernight.com/ub/solo

I'm in the process of creating a UB for the express use of the solo game.

Basically it will be a no account, no scout, no anything non solo, version of UB.

There are two input pages, Scrolls and War Declarations.

All options will be based around those two inputs and obviously the more people who paste scrolls and war dec pages, the more accurate it will be.

Hopefully this will help make downhits and wars much clearer for everyone to see.

Current Status:
Current Scroll
* Faith indicator
* War indicatior
* Link to View Realm

Other Scrolls
* View two sets of scroll submission.
* Compare up to 4 different realms.
* Link to View Realm

Current Wars
* List all wars currently on scrolls.
* Link to View War

All Wars
* List all wars.
* Peace Indicator.
* Link to View War

View Realm
* Current War Section
* Historic War Section
* Link to View Realm
* Link to View War

View War
* Summary Section
* Start Time, First Submitted Time, Last Submitted Time
* War Status
* Current Time
* Display Networth starting 3 days before until 3 days after war.
* Start and End of war indicator

Add Scrolls / Add War Decs
* Check to ensure input is for correct page.
* Add each line of Scrolls/War Decs to seperate database row.

Nice Job Kaz, I have been saving copies of the scrolls every day or so on my own, this is great!

Thanks for putting the time into getting this together.

Ooh idea! Change the color scheme to white text on a black background, or something like that. My eyes have been hurting a lot lately :)

Need opinions of how to work one of the values.

Obviously the 'start times' are based on when the war declarations page was submitted. If i pull the scrolls immediatly before a war was 'submittted' they may not truly reflect the stats at the start of the war.

My thinking is to pull the start stats from the oldest available scroll 12 to 24hours before the submitted time.

if the scrolls in the db were updated enough perhaps it would be possible to have the db tell whether the war was active or not? I mean, wouldn't it be possible to have the db login thru ure account and copy scroll page at every update? heh. Or ask Decae to write in an external update to your db with every scroll update?

Thinking too much, whatever - methinks what you've done already is great :)

The chances of the database being updated really regularly or not wont change the fact that the starting stats of a war and the start of a war dont coincide.

It's unlikely to be automated though. It's a non evernight hosted external website. That would mean SoulDemon opening a part of the server to my hosts IP address to allow it to get through the security features installed, or me moving the ultimabase domain to the evernight server.

But then, even if it was updated every 10 mins by an automated script people still sometimes spend a day burning their target or declare after the war has been going for a little while. Eg first turns spend using scum could change the stats dramatically before the war dec is made.

So does 12-24 hours seem about right, bearing in mind all the scroll submissions from that point till the war is gone from the page will still be accessable?

Although the scrolls from imedately previous the war may not reflect the war in all it's entirety it's still a piece of the puzzle. Defend your case, that's part of solo....defend the reson your stats were the way they were before the hit. To be honest, we all know how to manipulate our NW to justify a hit if we want to. If it's a good war your NW sould reflect that a week, a day, an hour, a minute before you hit. And with this tool we can see all those reports rather than having to keep track of them ourselves.

Fixed... you can no longer paste the war decs page into the scroll input nor the scroll page into the wardecs input.

Been playing with the war summary pages (access by clicking one of the 'view war' links on the 'view war decs' page.

The date and stats marked as 'Initial' are from 12 hours before the minimum start time. eg a war declaration occurs on 05 Feb 2006, the start date listed under initial will be taken from the oldest scrolls submission submitted between 04 Feb 2006 at midday and the time the war declaration was first detected.

Ok, I'm going to try and get UBSolo skinned and looking all pretty before the age restarts.

Have yet to do the 'realm' screen.

Anyone want anything specific on that screen, or on any of the other screens for that matter?

This weekend will see a loss of the ultimabase.co.uk domain for up to 24 hours.

Discovered that my host has a better plan so Im changing to it and they need to move the account. I

'm posting in here because it will mostly effect development of UBSolo due to the reset. But It will also take out all of the other ultimabase.co.uk Ultimabases until its been moved.

what a fiasco.

I now have the domain. All the old stuff is online but needs to be moved to the new account.

The real problem is a php setting called register globals. It is turned off on the new server. This means nothing really for UBSolo because its a complete recode and using new methods.

the old ub code is extremely effected by this change. it was written at a time when register globals was thought to be handy rather than a security flaw.

all ultimabase.co.uk databases are currently broken.

this DB is a player's initiative (and for it to be better it requires some input from other players).

This has basically nothing to do with the game.

But one could always ask Someone to put a link somewhere.

Other than that ... Looking good Kaz! Must remember to update information.
