Some exciting news - for me anyway

Postby Joe90Uk » Fri Aug 24, 2007 4:40 pm

Now I know I shouldn't get too excited too soon, but I just need to tell somebody :)

My wife and I have just found out, whilst on our week away, that she is pregnant!!

Understandably we haven't told anyone in RL yet as these things can turn very quickly, but I'm hereby giving notice that around April time next year, my time on this game will reduce to virtually nothing, except for posting the odd thing in here, at some ungodly hour in the morning.

This is our first baby, and any help (especiall from those of you who have gone through this excitement) will be useful.

I will keep posting in here for those who are interested - except no pictures of the birth- euwgh!!

I think you might gather that I am pretty excited by this news, so let me rant for a while :)

Congrats man.

I have to say that the build up to my wife actually giving birth was exciting but also scarey. the doctors kept telling us not to get our hopes up for whatever reason so we went through 9 months of being scared shitless. Every little shift, every little bump, every "I don't feel so well" day I was expecting the worst.

But the exciting parts of feeling the baby kick, seeing the ultrasounds, talking with other people...that was awsome for me as a dad. I didn't think I showed that much excitement at the hospital, but my mother in law said I was walking like the proudest person in the world when I was wheeling the baby back to the room while she recovered from the birth.

A very good friend of mine IRL also had a son, I find it awsome talking to him about it and both of our sons and how they are developing. I think child birth is just as exciting for the dad as it is the mom.

Cheers all, SD - you're right about the doctors :)

My wife is paranoid about everything at the moment - what with 'can i drink coke??' and 'is paracetamol ok??' type questions - which i guess the doctors hear all the time :P

Once again thanks for the encouragement folks, I'm sure as soon as i get photo's they'll be on here Holli.

I think the worst thing at the moment is the excitement now seems too much already, but also seeing the changes in my wife = hormones and having to go to the toilet every five minutes, is sometimes not a pleasant sight :P

Once you shoot your kid out, things are just totally different in the world.

Congrats Joe90Uk. Might i suggest James, as a name...or perhaps Leto...if its a boy =D

I don't think i could convince her that leto or angelique would be good names, but James is a consideration :)

So many conversations about names all go the same way - from the somewhat normal names and end up with way out names like peaches and apple which our celebrities seem to like.

This one is going to be a big debate

Names are hard to come up with because everyone has an opinion. Going into the birth we liked the name Caleb. Being as how I don't like standard spelling of names we decided on Kaleb. His middle name changed a few times. Originally it was going to be Jeffrey after my middle name, and then Patrick after my grandfather. We ended up naming him Kaleb Austin, which was a suggestion by my sister in law and I decided on that name after he was born and we were filling out the birth paperwork.

A buddy of mine swore up and down he was going to call his son Jacob, which is why I nixed that name off of my list. He ended up with Aidan Joseph.

So don't commit to anything unitl he is born!

Wait till you experience the excitement that comes with being soaked in your own progenies body fluids. Beats Disneylands E ticket rides hands down.

Never, ever, ever, leave home without em.

Took the boy for a drive on the coast couple weeks back. What the map failed to impart, was that the drive was mostly hairpin turns. He blew snack, then lunch, and then finally breakfast. But not before we stoped and cleaned each event up, one at a time. *sigh*

Edit: TIP! All cars you own from here on out should be 4 doors and have "leather" interior.
